Disruptive Behavior Disorder is an umbrella term that refers to several disorders, including Conduct Disorder (CD), Oppositional Defiance Disorder (ODD), or Attention Deficit Disorder/Hyperactivity (ADHD). Disruptive Behavior Disorder is a term used to describe a condition where the child acts in a way that significantly disrupts others, or the rights of others. The child may demand attention, be aggressive, impulsive, or argumentive. The child may due this unintentionally or with purpose. Typically these children have characteristics of dishonesty, lying, stealing, and cheating are commonly seen behaviors. Children with disruptive behavior disorders also tend to do poorly in school and in relationships with others. The child may cause irritation or distress, or may continually interrupt the activities of others. Some children may also be aggressive, oppositional, and anti-social. Symptoms include:
Without intervention, children with disruptive behavior disorder tend to go on to develop more serious disorders as their maturity and thinking improve. About 80% of children identified with disruptive behavior disorder in childhood, and who do not get proper intervention, will go on to commit crimes against society.
