83. Boredom
It is okay for a child to experience boredom, in fact, boredom tends to bring out creativity in children because they are forced to find ways to entertain themselves. Many parents feel they must step in and entertain the child who is bored. That does not teach the child to take responsibility for their own feelings and experiences.
Tip: It is common practice in today’s world for parents to be overly involved in their children’s lives. Adults rule over organized sports. Children are allowed to interact on an adult level. Parents provide videos, TV, and Nintendo games to entertain the child when she does not have anything to do. As a result, children are being deprived of learning critical skills such as self-entertainment, problem solving, negotiation, and responsibility, to name a few.
Raising children is like making biscuits: it is as easy to raise a big batch as one, while you have your hands in the dough.
